The HSR station on the Zhangjiajie–Jishou–Huaihua and Qian–Zhang–Chang lines — about 30 min from the city and roughly 40 min to Wulingyuan, the National Forest Park gateway. It is not the old central Zhangjiajie Station by the Tianmen Mountain cable car; check which station your ticket shows.

The central station on Chezhan Middle Road — and the one to use for Zhangjiajie. Its trains run direct north-west via Changde: ~40 a day, 1h45-2h32, ~¥140-165 second class, roughly half the fare and an hour faster than the same journey from Changsha South. Metro Lines 2 and 3 serve it (长沙火车站 station), and Line 2 links it to Changsha South in ~18 min of riding for ¥3. Do not confuse it with Changsha South (长沙南站), the HSR hub 10 km south-east where flights and all Guangzhou/Hong Kong trains land.
How to book with a foreign passport
